1. I can't import sounds from an Akai- or E-MU-CD - what's wrong?
Windows itself can't read those "special" CDs directly, i.e. if you can't read them in Windows Explorer that's just normal.

If you used the "Akai" or "E-MU" button of VSamplers Import rack and it can't access your Akai- or E-MU-CD's please check the VSampler menu at Options --> Import --> Akai. There are two access methods to choose from:

  • SPTI: included with Windows 2000 and XP, but requires Administrator rights to use (which is the default user type when you install Windows)
  • ASPI: included with Windows 98, but also works on all other Windows versions, just requires an additional file, read below

If both methods fail (VSampler tries both automatically) that means there is no appropriate ASPI driver installed on your system yet. Easy solution: Ahead Software (producers of the popular "Nero Burning Rom") offers a good ASPI driver for Windows NT/2000/XP for free download: WNASPI32.DLL. Copy this DLL file into VSamplers "bin" directory and it should work.
