VSampler 3.5   -   21-December-2004

New features of VSampler 3.5 (free for every registered VSampler 3 user, some new functions not available in VSampler OEM versions, see comment below):

Note to owners of the "VSampler 3.0 DXi" OEM version which was part of Sonar 3 Producer (not longer available):
When running VSampler 3.5 with the "VSampler 3.0 DXi" serial number which came with Sonar the new functions which are marked yellow won't be available, since the licensed Cakewalk version was tied to the "VSampler 3.0 DXi" feature-set which came with Sonar, new future functions not included. To release the full power of VSampler 3.5 (and future 3.x versions) those extra functions can be added within a few minutes by purchasing the upgrade online. The complete list of advantages: Why should I upgrade?
more import formats supported:
  • Kontakt (NKI, NKM)
  • Battery (KIT)
  • ReCycle (RCY, REX, RX2), independent change of tempo and pitch
  • Acid (WAV), independent change of tempo and pitch
  • E-MU CD (E-MU III and EMU IV CD)
DRC Pro engine to play instruments of any size without being limited by RAM-size, DRC LED changes color to reflect the current RAM state
  • green: maximum polyphony available
  • yellow: medium polyphony available
  • red: low polyphony available, if you should experience dropouts during playback start RAMbo (see next point) to kick idle Samples out of RAM, if the LED remains red either limit Instruments polyphony or raise the DRC limit to let VSampler use more RAM ... in the long term you will have to buy more RAM or live with the reduced polyphony
DRC Pro extension RAMbo to reduce system load for improved performance of large instruments by kicking idle samples out of your RAM at the click of a button. RAMbo allows you to play very large Instruments with higher polyphony than before. The gained space allows DRC to exploit previously idle parts of your RAM. To tell RAMbo which samples are never being played in your current song you need to play the song from start to end using the current Soundlibrary one time. RAMbo will stay active as long as the "R" button in the title bar is enabled.

RAMbo updates automatically: new samples will be re-loaded on first playback (2nd playback will be perfect again), old samples (last playback 24h older than others) will be kicked when you hit the (O)ptimize button in the title bar or when you load the library next time. To end RAMbo mode click “R” again. This will re-load all samples and reset their playback state to “idle”.

The following screenshot shows how RAMbo boosts available performance (polyphony) when playing a multi-sampled 1.2 GB bass guitar with only 200 MB available RAM. The song actually used just 1/3 of the Samples, which is a typical value for this kind of Instruments with hundreds of key-zones and velocity-zones.

new "manual" DRC mode (see left half of screenshot above) for ultra-fast loading/exchanging of large instruments (menu “Options | Audio | Performance / Quality | Memory”):
In both modes you will never run out of RAM. The worst possible result when using XXL instruments is unnecessarily high system load, which would force you to limit polyphony to avoid overload. Whenever you exchange (or add/remove) an active Instrument the total "active" size of your soundlibrary changes up or down and the memory could be re-optimized, but that takes time. This is what the Auto mode does. The new Manual mode allows you to set your own trade-off between adequate polyphony and number of auto-optimize situations. The difference:

Auto (internally uses the complete slider range): It automatically exploits the complete available RAM (your DRC limit size) for best performance.

  • pro: always best possible polyphony
  • con: any Instrument exchange will cause re-optimization, slowing down instrument load/exchange e.g. when importing/previewing XXL instruments by stepping through Pool or Import window

Manual (internally uses the left part of the slider range): The "grab as much RAM as allowed" dynamics stops at the slider position. VSampler will immediately use this default value, if all active Instruments fit into RAM at this setting.

  • pro: fast instrument load/exchange
  • con: it doesn't care whether your available RAM is fully exploited or not, resulting in less performance (polyphony) than you would get with fully exploited RAM

For experienced users we recommend the "Manual" mode. Set the slider to a low value and hit the "Apply" button. If your song still plays without dropouts everything is cool. Whenever you should experience dropouts later just hit the little "O" button in the title bar to (O)ptimize your RAM when it's actually required. This will automatically move the slider to the best possible position (your default setting won't be changed). This way you get highest polyphony when you need it, while no auto-optimization will steal your time when you just compare instruments and don't need maximum polyphony.

added group effects for Zones (new default), great e.g. to add different effects to drums of a drumkit without using polyphone (CPU-intensive) Zone-effects
added individual mixer outputs for Zones (DXi/VSTi and Rewire only, not in Standalone), great e.g. to output drums of a drumkit at different sequencer mixer channels, check the new "Output" selector at the Zones page header
increased maximum mixer outputs to 32 for DXi/VSTi/Rewire version, either 16 stereo or 32 mono or any mixture (still 16 stereo in Standalone)
added: full-featured 30-day-trial mode, allows to test all functions of the full version for 30 days
added: three new high quality playback modes (menu “Options | Audio | Performance / Quality” at the “Quality” tab), check the websites Sampler anti-aliasing and pitch-shifting comparison (by Simon V) and Resampling quality compared (by maz) to compare the sample interpolation quality to other samplers.

  • Draft: in previous versions called "Standard"
  • Standard: in previous versions called "Production", that's the current industry standard used in most samplers as "best" mode
  • Good: less aliasing than most other "big" samplers
  • Perfect: almost no audible aliasing
  • Ultra: no audible aliasing, almost as good as if you would convert every single note non-realtime in Soundforge or Cool Edit (Adobe Audition) with the best quality settings

Note: Duron and Celeron processors don't like "Ultra" mode, the speed difference to the other 4 modes is much more extreme than it is on Athlon XP and Pentium 4. But no matter how slow your processor is, you're welcome to use "Ultra" mode when you mixdown/bounce/freeze the VSampler tracks in your project.

new in Standalone version: Direct Kernel Streaming for ASIO-like low latency performance of DirectSound soundcards: "Speedsoft ASIO" appears as new device in the list of available ASIO devices, play around with the settings of the ASIO control panel, for most soundcards a buffersize of 256 samples and 3 buffers works fine
added: in Compact View the ADSR sliders for Volume- and Filter-envelope now have a range setting (right mouse button) to give you the control level you need *without* having to hold Shift key for finetuning mode, you can choose between 1s, 3s, 5s or 10s, default is 3s, which is *way* more usable than the previously fixed 10s range
added easy MIDI remote control in Compact View (just as in Edit View, context menu at all knobs and faders)
added: new Quickbrowser view "Groups of Instrument" for easy navigation within complex multi-layer instruments, allows to quickly select Groups and show or hide Groups at the Zones page, it shows a treeview of either Selection Groups or Poly Groups or Cycle Groups (switchable) and supports the following actions:
  • single click on a Group name selects all Zones of this Group
  • double click on a Group name hides/shows all Zones of this Group at the Zones page (great to visually separate multi-layered instruments, a "mute hidden groups" option will follow!)
  • right clicking on a Group name opens a context menu with some more options (Auto play, Auto select groups, New group ...)
  • adds Zones to a group by drag'n'droping them (using right mouse button at the moment!) from the Zones page onto a group name
added: Beat Slicer now exports the beat timing of the slices, either as MIDI file (click "Export Slice" button in Sample Editor) or as MIDI notes straight into the sequencer track (drag'n'drop the "Export Slice" button to the desired sequencer track), so you can create variations of the drumloop in your sequencer
added microtuning support at instruments level, loads Scala files
added new and easy way to assemble your drumkit from a directory with hundreds of WAV files: preview and load WAV files in the Quickbrowser view "Disk Browser", then step through the list doing "cursor cursor cursor cursor ENTER cursor cursor ENTER" to preview and load your desired WAV's, right click mouse to set options (e.g. next free key vs. span across entire keyboard)
added: channel FX buttons in Mixer rack for direct access, current FX channel state now displayed in Mixer rack, MIDI rack and Smallview
added: channel L/R link buttons in Mixer rack to move L/R sliders bundled or individual
added: context menu option "Refresh" in Bank-Manager to refresh all stored shortcuts, fixed preview option bug (context menu)
added: LFO waveform "Random Soft" (or call it "Sample & Fade"), a triangle with random amount per cycle, the previously available S&H and Noise waveforms are now merged and call "Random Hard", which is the classical "Sample & Hold"
added ".VSI" file format for individual instrument files instead of soundlibraries (right click at the Instruments Pool to export selected instruments)
added to Beat Slicer: "Stretch" option to fill gaps when playing a sliced drumloop below root tempo
added to Beat Slicer: button bar to play individual Slices or quickly change their state:
  • lock/unlock marker positions against auto search
  • mute: play silence for a slice
  • disable: skip this slice for playback
added to Beat-Slicer: export selected Slices into Zones of an Instrument to trigger them individually (Sample Editor context menu "Slices | Create Zones ...")
added to Zones page: new Zone playback mode "Reverse" (doesn't work with looped samples yet)
added to Zones page: selecting a Zone by pressing a keyboard key (sending key via MIDI), either through the context menu "Select | Select Zone via MIDI" or by Ctrl-M shortcut
added to Zones page: Visualize MIDI events (context menu) now got "All Channels" option (new default)
added to Bank Manager: Refresh option (context menu) to refresh all file shortcuts
added: VSamplers bank column names now appear in the VSTi/DXi host sequencer patch selector instead of just bank numbers
added: direct drag'n'drop of WAV/AIF files to a MIDI chanel slot or Pool slot now also works in Small View
added Instrument/Output slide switch to the Mixer rack similiar to the one of the Small View; to switch the MIDI channel name display between the name of Instruments or output devices
added: quickly compare Instruments using the + (plus) and – (minus) keys of the numerical keyboard, they switch one Instrument forwards and backwards, skipping empty slots
added: red keys at the onscreen keyboard mark "Switch Keys" (used to switch between different sample sets, often used in .GIG files), 1st Switch Key now automatically enabled to avoid the "no sound" problem with those files
added Drag'n'Drop functionality (from Windows Explorer) to Bank Manager and Import Window, you can now add shortcuts to the Bank Manager this way, or preview the contents of a soundbank file in the Import Window before adding some of them into the Pool
added: copy/paste function (context menu at the MIDI channel slots) to copy a Multi incl. all of it's settings
added to Pattern Sequencer: context menu to link or unlink all sliders
added: drag'n'drop of external files into Import window or Bank Manager (in addition to Instruments Pool and MIDI channel slots)
added "Import Instrument" to context menu (right mouse) of MIDI channels and Pool slots to quickly import an Instrument from an external file (in addition to drag'n'drop, Import window and main menu)
added "Preview Instrument" feature (same as in Pool, BankMan, Import window) is now available in the Quickbrowser of the Edit View as well, allows to browse through external instruments and soundlibraries and preview their contained instruments live at the active MIDI channel with a single click
added menu “File | Archive" to safely archive backups or finished projects incl. all belonging Samples (linked or embedded or compressed), similiar to the old "Export .. library" menu, but the new "Save as copy" checkbox allows to choose whether VSampler should create a backup copy aside from your host project (as in previous versions) or actually tell your host sequencer to use the newly created VS3 or VC3 file. This allows you to "freeze" a finished song project using space-saving compressed Samples e.g. in order to archive the project (song file + VC3 file) on CD/DVD.
added / updated: import of Gigastudio 3 files with one exception: 24 bit samples are only supported when uncompressed, compressed 24 bit samples are NOT supported at the moment
added: "auto-play" option (default "on") for Zone- and Sample-selection, i.e. whenever you select a Zone or Sample in the Quickbrowser or at the Zones tab or Samples tab you'll immediately hear the sample you selected
added to Sample Editor: hitting Space bar plays current sample
added: "channel padlock options" under "Options | MIDI | Preferences", allows VSampler power users to get manual control over the padlock open/close state (if you are not sure, please don't touch those options!):
  • closed padlock blocks external program/bank changes (default = off), enabling this option makes the closed padlock "harder", be sure you want that:
    • advantage: closed MIDI channels always keep their assigned instrument, ignoring program change commands from your keyboard or sequencer, while the open MIDI channels still follow a program change
    • disadvantage (newbie warning): don't enable this option if your songs contain Program Changes (e.g. GM songs) or if you are used to select your Instruments in the sequencers track properties (e.g. Cubase Inspector) - both won't work with blocked program changes!
  • auto-close padlock after import (default = on), disabling this option will keep the current MIDI channel open after importing an instrument, be sure you want that:
    • advantage: due to the open MIDI channel the "autoload-to-MIDI-channel" continues to work for your further imports or when stepping through the instruments
    • disadvantage: due to the open MIDI channel the imported instrument is not hardwired to this channel yet, you need to close the padlock manually if desired, otherwise the MIDI channel will change its assigned instrument as soon as you put your cursor to another instrument
added: new "Auto create Cycle Groups" action at the Zones page context menu (right mouse), automatically creates new Cycle Groups for Zones with identical key- and velocity-range, existing Cycle-groups won't be changed (submenu for round robin or random mode will follow!)
added to Zones page: at the lower right corner of the "Extended Zone Settings" dialog (right mouse) there's now an "Exclusion Poly Group" option, which allows a Zone to mute (exclude) a complete group of other Zones, required e.g. for realistic multi-velocity hi-hats, the hi-hat group example works like this (all actions done at the Zones page):
  • group #1 creation: select all Zones of the open hi-hat and change the Poly-Group from "Off" to "1" - your new group #1
  • group #1 excludes group #2: click right mouse button, select "Extended Zone Settings" and set the "Exclusion Poly Group" to group number "2"
  • group #2 creation: select all Zones of the closed hi-hat and change the Poly-Group from "Off" to "2" - your new group #2
  • group #2 excludes group #1: click right mouse button, select "Extended Zone Settings" and set the "Exclusion Poly Group" to group number "1"

Now whenever you play a Zone of Group #1 it will stop all voices of Group #2 and vice versa. The advantage over just putting them all into one common monophonic group is that inside a group all Zones can be set to any polyphony you want. In the hi-hat example a group polyphony of 2 sounds more realistic than monophonic.

added: double-clicking the Voices display in the title bar opens global polyphony settings
added: status bar of Bank Manager now shows the source location (e.g. name of the belonging VS3 library) of the currently selected instrument

Detail improvements, changes and bugfixes of VSampler 3.5 (free for every registered VSampler 3 user):

fixed: performance waste by using just 50% of the DRC limit, this bug was introduced in one of the latest betas
fixed: Logic 5.5 crashed when closing VSampler
fixed: "Save As" created embedded samples instead of linked samples
fixed: MIDI command "Program Change" stopped sustained notes on *all* channels
fixed: MIDI command "Bank Select" sometimes didn't affect the next Program Change
fixed: Beat Slicer mode "Pitch" didn't sync tempo to host
fixed Compact View: MIDI channel padlock icon unlocked when turning Volume- or Velocity-knob after unlocking + locking the channel before at least once
fixed: minimized VSampler main window missed the "Restore" button
renamed "Volume" tab to "Vol Pitch" to reflect the contained pitch settings (as requested by users)
fixed: doing an "Import" closed *all* unlocked MIDI channels instead of just the current one
fixed: after deleting an Instrument from the Pool which was assigned to a MIDI channel this channel now isn't silent anymore (right but dumb) but falls back to unlocked mode, automatically playing the currently selected Instrument
fixed: in the Cycle group dialog the Zone assignment buttons ">", ">>" and "<", "<<" only worked in one direction, and pressing a button twice caused a "list index out of bounds" error
fixed: drag'n'drop of ISO files into Pool didn't work
fixed Kontakt import: "keyTracking" yes/no setting was ignored, Cycle Groups import wasn't correct, ADSR envelope curve shape wasn't close enough to Kontakt (especially attack shape with curve <>0)
fixed SF2 import: special characters in sample names caused missing samples when saving the soundlibrary with linked samples
fixed SF2 import: wrong loop points with some SF2 files
improved SF2 Export: VSampler's Zone playback mode "Drum" is now converted into the longest possible SF2 Volume release time to emulate "ignore Note Off" (releasing the Drum stick doesn't stop the sound)
fixed: Beat Slicer "Stretch" value didn't work (btw, name change, now called "Fill gaps")
fixed: smoothed LFO square waveforms a bit to avoid clicks caused by the jumping LFO target parameter (e.g. Filter Cutoff)
fixed: after loading an SF2 file VSampler started at Multi 2 (no big problem, but not nice)
fixed: MIDI channels didn't retain Pan and Volume when switching between Multis
fixed: problem with Tobybear Minihost, in Compact View the keyboard keys were painted even when keyboard window wasn't enabled
fixed: Quickbrowser showed wrong icon for E-MU CD content (folders and instruments)
fixed: audible clicks when changing Filter Cutoff of sustained notes with an active Filter Envelope
fixed: audible LFO steps (e.g. for target Pitch) when audio buffersize was 512 ms or bigger (12 ms latency or bigger)
fixed: Beat Slicer exported Muted/Disabled slices instead of skipping them
fixed: Compact View showed the Filter ADSR controls when the filter had no active envelope
improved: velocity response conversion for import of HALion and GIG files (you can also choose the new velocity curve "SoftHAL" for your own instruments)
fixed: BankManager didn't support drag'n'drop of E-MU folders from the disc browser
fixed: Access violation in pattern sequencer (thanks Krzysztof!)
improved: Bank Manager links can now be changed afterwards (e.g. if you move your library to another place)
fixed: installer problem with virtual MIDI cable driver under Win2k/XP
fixed instrument template problems: XML export crashed, applying a template with the properties for instrument, name, zones, volume and sample disabled and "repeat template for extra zones" enabled destroyed the soundlibrary
fixed: startup crash caused by audio drivers (e.g. ATI All-In-Wonder) which claim to support Direct Kernel Streaming but in fact just crash
fixed: drag'n'drop of REX files to onscreen-keyboard didn't work
fixed: host project wasn't able to find samples within a compressed VC3 file which moved to another location
improved: drag'n'drop of WAV files to the onscreen keyboard and then selecting "to next free keys" now uses the drag'n'drop target key as 1st key, instead of always starting at C0 as in previous versions
fixed: problem with Group effects (distorted audio)
simplified/changed saving of Soundlibraries (new menu “Options | Save" to change the defaults): new Soundlibraries are not longer allowed to contain a mix of linked and embedded Samples (no way to change sample link/embed state at Zones level anymore)
  • new default is "save with host project" and generally "linked Samples"
  • 100% backward compatible: the link/embed state of existing Soundlibraries won't be changed when you edit and save them

For users who prefer to stick to embedded Samples:

  • To permanently activate "embedded" mode for the current Soundlibrary you need to save it as "embedded" one time, either by menu "File | Archive | embedded samples (uncompressed)" or "File | Save As" with activated checkbox "embed all Sampledata". VSampler will then permanently treat it as embedded incl. imports of new samples/instruments.
  • New frequently requested feature (to activate it check menu "Options | Import | VS3"): You can now import Instruments from other embedded VS3 files as link, without wasting HD space for the embedded Samples multiple times. It also works when "save with host project" is activated, when you save your project in the sequencer VSampler will ask you whether it should create linked WAV files or link to the existing embedded Samples. But be sure you know what you do, if you use this option you can not longer rely on the fact that an embedded VS3 file always contains all belonging samples. Changing or deleting Samples in the original source library will also affect all copies which link to it!
simplified registration: copy the registration key to the Windows clipboard (right mouse "copy") and start VSampler, it will automatically detect the valid registration key
fixed: SF2 export was broken in Beta 4 (produced unreadable SF2 files)
fixed: SF2 export didn't pan splitted stereo samples to left + right
fixed: Akai-CD import: Samples are not longer merged (grouped) to one big Instrument if the complete Volume of a Partition is programmed to use the same MIDI channel, in this case the MIDI channel setting is obviously not meant to be used (thanks to Spectrasonics for sending CD's for debugging)
fixed: made demo version BEEEP less shocking (3 dB softer + longer attack time + deeper frequency)
fixed VSTi/DXi Import window: stepping through the instruments by arrow keys up/down didn't change instruments of opened MIDI channels (opened padlock symbol)
fixed: "Out of memory" error when exporting large libraries using the "Export linked library" menu item
fixed: VSTi/DXi dialog font positioning problem when Windows font size has been set to > 100%
fixed: problems of pattern sequencer when applying some instrument effects in sequence (phorum post)
fixed Kontakt import: samples not found, LFO waveform, filter amount, timing of free env (flex env in Kontakt)
fixed E-MU import (thanks Brad!): problems with pitch, key mapping. loops and volume envelope + problem with > 128 volumes (e.g. Bob Clearmountain "The Ultimate Drum Collection")
fixed: "Rec" button in Pattern Sequencer didn't work (no WAV file created)
extended upper frequency range of synced LFO: slowest possible LFO rate in Sync mode now 8 bars
fixed: DRC size limit now shared between multiple plugin instances
fixed: Standalone version with "Speedsoft Audio" driver, effect times changed with playback frequency
fixed: "Cannot open file" problem when selecting an instrument in the bank manager which is part of the currently loaded soundlibrary
improved: default release time of sliced beats in Beat Slicer reduced from 50 ms to 5 ms, sounds better with most drumloops
fixed: Drag'n'Drop of multiple instrument- or library-files didn't place instruments to instrument slots 0...127 but stepped to the next bank column every 16th instrument
fixed VSTi/DXi: annoying "Select WAV Directory" box for every save action when "Save Bank with Host Project" option activated
fixed: "VSampler always starts at 48 kHz" problem: at runtime VSampler now forces the setting made by the user in VSampler last time, on close it restores the initial card setting
fixed: problem loading sound libraries in DLS format (missing instruments)
fixed: when importing 3rd party libraries or instruments VSampler created multiple copies of a Sample when it's used in multiple Zones
fixed: Beat Slicer now more tolerant against DC offsets
improved (Compact View): selecting an Instrument in the Pool now automatically makes it available at the onscreeen keyboard by changing the active MIDI channel to one which already contains the selected instrument or to the first free one (open padlock icon)
fixed: crash in Beta 3 when exchanging instruments and in some other situations, especially while playback
fixed in Pattern Sequencer: render to wav didn't work
removed: "auto-trim" feature, which automatically removed silence from the end of samples while loading them
fixed: Beta 3 did not allow to do changes in "Sustain loop" Start and End point edit fields
fixed: when doing Copy&Paste of Zones in the Zones View VSampler sometimes doubled the samples in memory instead of re-using them internally as it normally does
improved: Zone "Solo" switch (right side of the Edit View Onscreen keyboard) now also works when playing an external MIDI keyboard
improved: SF2 export now ignores released trigger samples, because the SF2 format doesn't support them anyway, and playing them at Note On would make less sense than not playing them
improved: SF2 export now converts VSampler Poly-groups to SF2 exclusion-groups (aka "hihat groups") if polyphony = 1 or "Exclusion Group" is checked
fixed: doubleclicking the closed padlock icon could cause an Access Violation
fixed: crash in Bank Manager
fixed: instrument templates didn't apply filter-velocity curve correctly

improved: setting Key-Range via MIDI now accepts "wrong" order of Lo and Hi input
fixed: drag'n'drop of multiple GIG files at once did nothing
fixed Akai CD import: wrong pitches of "Hans Zimmer Guitars"
fixed Akai CD import: empty instruments of "Soundscan Vol 9 (Oldschool Keyboards)"
fixed: Akai .AKP import: wrong volume envelope times
fixed: GIG import, missing switch keys in some files
improved: extended Zones settings "play Zone if" now show in addition to the note numbers
fixed: after manually creating a new zone and assigning a sample to it the sample wasn't editable in the sample editor (missing refresh)
improved: more intuitive auto-scrolling when drag'n'drop'ing instruments to the edge of the Instruments Pool
fixed: Beta 3 didn't restore global MIDI remote assignments
fixed: crash when deleting the temporary preview instrument while it plays
fixed: switching Sample location between embedded and linked (at the Samples page) sometimes didn't work
fixed: problem with filter activation/deactivation vs. applying filter settings for all zones
improved: easier polyphony limitation at global and Instrument level, when counting active Voices VSampler now separates between:
  • Note Voices at global and Instrument level: the number of notes being played back, max. 255, independent of Instrument layers
  • Zone Voices at Zone level (Poly Groups): the number of Zones (layers) being played back, max. 255 notes x 16 layers = 4080

With the right mouse button the Voices display (upper right corner) can be switched.

increased number of simultaneously available effects per Zone Group from 2 to 3
changed: made hardwired MIDI channels (closed padlock symbol) harder, i.e. a hardwired MIDI channel is not replaced by an Import or a Preview Instrument anymore (only opened MIDI channel slots), same behavior at Pool, Import Window and BankMan
changed/added: another way to import a Preview Instrument to a MIDI channel and into the Pool is to double click the open MIDI channel padlock symbol
simplified demo version limit: there are no functional restrictions anymore but the playback is interrupted regularly by a beeping noise (plus Soundlibraries can not be saved, as before)
simplified OEM version limit: same as above, owners of a "VSampler 3.0 DXi" OEM registration key (as bundled with Sonar 3 PE) can now test all new functions in demo mode by downloading and installing the separate VSampler 3.1 version and starting it outside of the DXi-sequencer (either Standalone or as VST plugin)

fixed: adapted the HALion import to the changed file format of HALion 2.02
improved: smarter display of too long names of instruments, samples, output devices ("..." in the middle)
fixed: using the new option "Save Bank with Host" sometimes did corrupt the saved bank settings (Fatal Bank load error)
fixed: saving a soundbank not longer resets active Multi to the 1st one
text change in Small View: renamed "Instruments" button to "Pool" to optically better separate it from the "Import" button
fixed: BankMan, after applying Sort, files in category folders were mixed up
fixed: "Lock Library" didn't work
fixed: applying an Instrument template changed some wrong settings
fixed: pattern sequencer ignored Zone effects and modulations
fixed: freezing an Instrument effect removed beat markers
improved: existing WAV files of a Preview Instrument will automatically be used when saving this Instrument in a Soundlibrary, instead of creating duplicates in another directory
fixed: deleting of multiple Zones sometimes raised an Exception error
fixed: saving .VSI files (VSampler Instruments) sometimes produced corrupt files
